The 2024 Electrify Expo in Long Beach, CA — particularly the Industry Day on May 31 — brought together a record number of electric vehicle (EV) industry leaders, innovators, and enthusiasts to explore the latest trends in electrification.

This year’s event focused on EV advancements and prospects, with particular attention on e-bikes and their growing role in the industry.

If you didn’t get to attend this year’s event, don’t worry. We’ve got you covered.

A Glimpse Into the Event

Electrify Expo Industry Day kicked off with a series of insightful panels and discussions featuring key figures in the EV and e-bike sectors. One of the standout sessions was the “Electrifying Everything” panel, which included representatives from Polaris, Lightship RV, Canoo, and Niu, as well as other industry thought leaders.

The discussions covered a broad range of topics, from the applications and benefits of electrification in off-road vehicles and electric RVs to the integration of AI in the EV and automotive industry.

Let’s take a look at a few of the key takeaways from these panel discussions.

Industry Insights

The discussions shed light on current industry trends, including the integration of AI and smart technology in EV design and performance. These advancements are set to upgrade the driving (and riding) experience with features like route optimization, real-time diagnostics, and improved battery management.

This discussion made us think of Urtopia’s latest e-bike, the Fusion, first seen at CES 2024. It integrates ChatGPT and an AI chat box, so you can talk with your bike about directions, the weather, and more.

Sustainable transportation solutions were another major recurring theme at Electrify Expo Industry Day. With their low environmental impact and high efficiency, e-bikes stood out as one of the top solutions for achieving cleaner urban mobility.

Panelists also highlighted the critical step toward wider acceptance of EVs: developing a robust charging infrastructure, especially for rural and remote areas.

But the event wasn’t all talk and no play. A record-shattering amount of manufacturers were in attendance to flaunt their newest EV products.

Several e-bike manufacturers, like Rad Power Bikes, presented their latest models, showcasing advancements in technology, efficiency, design, and performance.

There were so many new and innovative products unveiled during the Electrify Expo 2024 that we couldn’t include them all here. However, here’s a taste of some of the latest and greatest EVs showcased throughout the event.

XOTO 3-Wheel Leaning Electric Scooter

The XOTO 3-Wheel Leaning Electric Scooter was a huge hit at Electrify Expo 2024, promising a unique riding experience.

This moped-esque vehicle features a true 45-degree lean, allowing the wheels to adjust as you turn. The three wheels provide more control, stability, and confidence on the road.

It claims a top speed of 45 mph and a range of up to 45 mi. However, a second battery option would allegedly double the range.

The Niu XQi3

Electric mobility brand Niu (pronounced “new”) showed off its latest all-electric motorcycles, including the XQi3. The street version accommodates urban commuting with a top speed of about 28 mph. The XQi3 Wild model is the brand’s first electric dirt bike, capable of reaching speeds of around 47 mph.

Apart from this new release, Niu’s Joseph Constanti shared interesting insights. He underscored that city dwellers are increasingly choosing e-bikes due to their cost-efficiency and ease of use, making them a preferred choice over traditional two-wheelers.

The Lightship L1

Lightship RV introduced its L1 electric trailer at the Electrify Expo 2024. It features a solar-covered roof and a propulsion system (yeah, you heard that correctly). While still designed to be towed by another vehicle, the L1 has self-propelling capabilities to significantly help ease the load on the vehicle pulling it.

With this groundbreaking EV, you can recharge your e-bikes and other EVs completely off the grid with 2-3 kW of power for up to seven full days. Lightship even states that you can use this electric RV as a backup generator for your home!

Overall, the L1 Electric RV represents a giant step forward in sustainable camping solutions.

The 2025 Kawasaki Electrode 20 Balance E-Bike

Kawasaki unveiled its new-and-improved 2025 Electrode 20 Balance e-bike during the Electrify Expo Industry Day in Long Beach, CA. This model, aimed at young riders (8+ years), features an upgraded 750 W battery and a dirtbike-esque design. It’s a fun, versatile, and efficient experience for riders up to 130 lbs.

Networking and Partnerships Bring Bright Future for E-Bikes and EVs

Just as with CYCLINGWORLD Europe 2024, Electrify Expo Industry Day 2024 served as a valuable networking platform. It connected industry professionals and fostered collaborations about the role of e-bikes and EVs in the future of sustainable transportation.

For example, companies like Hankook Tire stressed the importance of partnerships in advancing EV technologies, showcasing their latest tire designs optimized for electric vehicles.

Overall, the Electrify Expo Industry Day 2024 was a huge success, showcasing innovative advancements in the e-bike and EV sectors. As this industry continues to evolve, events such as these play a vital role in driving the conversation on electrification and sustainability.
