Whether a Vermont resident or visitor, Vermont Bike & Brew offers a way for people to explore the state’s charming landscapes and experience the local flavors — all from the saddle of an e-bike.

Jonas Cole, owner and founder of the e-bike tour company, says, “Our self-guided tours follow turn-by-turn directions that lead riders by farm stands, cafes, and sugarhouses, then back to the craft brewery where they started. With the e-bikes assisting the riders at their level of choice, this is an exceptional way to become immersed in the sights, scents, and sounds of Vermont.”

E-bikes are available to rent for half a day, a whole day, or multiple days for a personalized exploration at your own pace. Here are some of Vermont Bike & Brew’s tours:

  • The Upper Pass Tour: This 24 mi journey takes you through the White River Valley and Barnard. Stops include the Kiss the Cow Farm Store and the Barnard General Store. The tour concludes at either Carlita’s Cantina or Worthy Burger, both offering delicious local fare.
  • The Harpoon Tour: Choose between a 23 or 29 mi ride through historic downtown Windsor and scenic gravel roads. Tour participants make a pitstop at the Brownsville Butcher & Pantry before finishing at Harpoon Brewery.
  • *New* The Bent Hill Brewery Tour: Launched in 2024, this 19 mi tour explores the hills of Braintree and stops at places like Poulin & Daughters Family Farm and Chef’s Market. The ride ends at Bent Hill Brewery for small-batch beers and meatless food platters.
  • Jasper Murdock’s Tour: This family-friendly ride through Norwich and Thetford highlights King Arthur Baking Company and Sweetland Farm — stops designed for all ages.
  • The Outer Limits Tour: This 26 mi adventure starts in Proctorsville. It includes stops at Buttermilk Falls and Green Mountain Sugar House. It ends at Outer Limits Brewing.

E-bikes have seen rapid growth over the past few years, as shown by legislative efforts like the proposed E-BIKE Act. This movement — and accompanying local tax rebate programs — highlight the rising awareness of e-bikes as a sustainable and practical transportation option.

Vermont Bike & Brew’s new initiatives reflect this movement, offering eco-friendly and enjoyable ways to explore the Green Mountain State.

On top of that, e-bikes’ usage and implementation have diversified as they grow in popularity. More ways to use e-bikes keep emerging, such as delivery and mobility vehicles. Again, we plainly see this with Vermont Bike & Brew’s new take on e-bikes and flexible tour options.

As e-bikes become more commonplace, it’s critical to understand local e-bike regulations — especially for out-of-state visitors to Vermont Bike & Brew. Thankfully, the e-bike tour company ensures that all renters and tour participants are informed about these state regulations.

Employees educate all riders on where each class of e-bikes is allowed to ensure compliance with local laws. These efforts help guarantee riders can enjoy Vermont’s stunning scenery with peace of mind, knowing they’re riding safely and responsibly.
