E-Bike Overview
The Riese & Müller Load 75 is a six-model line of electric cargo bikes, all with some great basic commonalities. From the basic Load 75 Touring right up to the Load 75 Rohloff HS, they all have a huge payload capacity of 440 lbs.
Also, every version of the Load 75 has dual suspension, 20-inch wheels, and a comfortable seat that can be set up quickly as different riders use it. This makes it ideal for commercial use when different delivery riders ride it daily or just for families that share with each other.
Another highlight of this e-bike is its safety features. All models come with a Supernova M99 Mini Pro headlamp and Supernova M99 Tail Light that increase visibility day and night. The bikes also have Tektro TRP C 2.3 cargo brakes with four pistons to help you stop faster and smoother, even with heavy loads.
Where the models themselves differ is in transmissions and motors. The lowest-cost model, the Load 75 Touring, has a 20 mph-limited Bosch Cargo Line Cruise motor and a Shimano Deore XT chain/cassette transmission. At the most expensive end, you can have a machine with a 28 mph Bosch Performance Line Speed motor and a bombproof Rohloff E-14 Speed Hub rear hub gear system.
At the price of a quality used compact car, the Load 75 is expensive. But, you’ll have a reason to sell said car and never look back to four wheels again. Riese & Müller are a byword for e-bike perfection with hard-to-beat engineering and reliability.
Reasons to Buy
If you’re serious about reducing your home’s or business’s carbon emissions and wish to choose an e-bike over a car, the Load 75 answers all your needs from deliveries to customers to getting the kids to school.
On every model, you can fit a range of options before checkout. Highlights include a bundle with three child seats and a luggage shelf for $701, a dual battery for $1,078, and a $324 cargo box with a hard cover. In total, there are 12 different add-ons to the basic machine, getting you complete customization over your ride.
Things to Consider
The chief drawback to this luxury cargo bike is the cost. With the Load 75 Rohloff HS, the optional extra battery, and the three child seats/child cover, you’ll be shelling out just under $14,000. You can still get a Load 75 for under $10,000 with some great options, but there are lower-priced electric bikes out there that’ll achieve many of those needs. However, few can match the engineering that has gone into the ultimate in car killers.
