Himiway Cobra Overview
Himiway’s first foray into dual-suspension electric bikes, the Cobra has been a big success and disrupts the affordable overlanding e-bike market. Though this e-bike uses affordable components, they work well together to make a comfortable and enjoyable ride.
It’ll accelerate quickly to 20 mph on throttle due to its newly designed, 750W rear hub motor that chucks out as much as 86 Nm of torque. On pedal assist, it can take you up to 25 mph, and thanks to the new torque sensor at the pedals, it responds far more quickly than Himiway’s previous machines. This gives a much more natural feel.
Range is a big selling point with the Cobra, too — in a real-world ride, you can comfortably expect 40 miles in big terrain. With the 400 lbs of potential payload, that could mean you can cycle to a hide several miles from the road and expect to be able to return with your quarry.
The suspension makes it a little soft to ride on the road, but take it onto a fire road or mountain track, and the bike comes into its element. The lower-cost suspension may bottom out if you push things too hard, but overall, it rides like a much more expensive machine when you pedal hard.
Reasons to Buy
This is a class-leading overlanding, hunting, or off-roading electric bike. The components work together in concert to make a comfortable, nimble e-bike that can really let loose should you want it to. That could be a big muddy hill or flying along a forest road.
We love the potential payload the bike is capable of carrying. At 400 lbs, this is considerably better than its rivals and makes it excellent for hunting or wilderness camping.
Things to Consider
With a 32-inch frame height and a very long wheelbase compared to rivals in this segment, the Cobra is not suited for smaller riders. If you’re 5’6” or taller, it’ll forgive you, but much shorter, and it’ll feel a bit too big for you.
If your budget extends to $4,000 or more, there may be an e-bike that’ll compete in terms of performance, but certainly not at this price of $2,399.
