On first look, the sixthreezero Ride in the Park might just be an old, vintage-era bicycle. Look again, and you’ll see the battery in the rack. The handlebars have a few modern tweaks, too… and perhaps only on a third look will you realize that this is indeed an electric bike.
Beautiful and classic to look at, this e-bike has very modern appendages that make it nice to ride. Forget the old Sturmey Archer rear hub gears — this has a compact, 500-watt rear hub motor. No caliper brakes, either — this has modern discs.
Riding has a similar feel to old bikes — you’ll be sat upright in a vertical position. Unlike the old clunkers that may have given you a lot of discomfort, this’ll zip up hills smoothly and comfortably with the 500-watt, 48-volt battery.
Reasons to Buy
If you want a vintage bike because that’s part of your overall style and outlook, the Ride in the Park may be a great choice. Few other e-bike brands on the market do the vintage look so well. That’s why you’ll like it — because it suits you.
And even though the e-bike looks old, tech like an LCD display with a speedometer and thumb throttle keeps you rooted in the 21st century.
Things to Consider
Given it has average range, power, weight, and components, the Ride in the Park isn’t the best or brightest in its field.
Sixthreezero rightly points out that this is very much a road-only electric bike. Mixed-use paths and gravel tracks might be an issue. Because of that, you can’t buy this bike for off-road use — rather, it’s meant for inner city/suburb/campus use.
