Juiced Scrambler Review: Takeaway

Built for fun on road and off, the Juiced CityScrambler has a powerful motor and powerful battery that make for a beefy e-bike from first look until you let loose on the road. Not afraid to be different, this is a funky and fun e-bike through and through

E-Bike Overview

The Juiced CityScrambler departs from most e-bike designs by looking more like a motorcycle due to its big frame and motorcycle-style double seat. With the optional off-road tires, this makes for a beefy e-bike that dares to be different.

This beefiness runs deeper than the appearance thanks to the 750W Bafang rear-hub motor that hurls out up to 80 Newton meters of torque and a maximum speed of 28 mph. To power the motor, a 52V, 15 Ah (780 Wh) battery gives it a maximum range of 45 miles.

The CityScrambler comes with 20″ x 4.25″ puncture-resistant road tires. This is a bit wider than typical city tires, making the e-bike capable of taking on soft sand and gravel should you venture off the paved stuff.

All in all, this is a very good electric price for its price point. It stands out from the crowd with its design and has a lot of power available either by throttle or pedal assist.

Reasons to Buy

If you want to stand out from the crowd riding a funky e-bike, take a look at the Juiced Scrambler. Fun to look at and even more fun to ride, it’s packed with features that make it comfortable on all terrains, such as the rear suspension and the advanced cadence sensors. These sensors have over 100 signals per crank revolution, eliminating lag and making your ride smoother.

Not only is the double seat comfy, but it lets you bring along a second passenger — as long as you don’t weigh more than 275 lbs combined. Thanks to its relatively low step-over height, it could suit older riders, too.

Things to Consider

At 78 lbs, this isn’t a lightweight e-bike. You may have trouble picking it up if it falls on its side. Another issue is that the throttle will take it up to 28 mph, eight miles per hour above the max speed permitted by the three-class e-bike system. Be aware of your state’s e-bike laws, and don’t contravene them in front of law enforcement.

It also takes an astounding 7.5 hours to fully charge, which is longer than your average e-bike. That said, your average e-bike doesn’t have a 52V battery, so it’s the tradeoff for having such a large power reserve.

Ratings

Power
4.5/5
4.5

With the 750W rear-hub motor, the CityScrambler is a very powerful electric bike. Though you’ll find 1,000W motors offering up to 160 Nm of torque out there, the 80 Nm will make mincemeat of most hills you encounter. It’ll get up to 28 mph, though the relatively large, 14t rear top speed cog will leave you pedaling hard to achieve those speeds.

Range
4/5
4

Though it has a 780 Wh battery, the 45-mile range isn’t great for an e-bike of this power. That might be because it’s a whopping 78 lbs. The fat tires also reduce its range thanks to friction.

Using the throttle will halve the range you can make over pedal assist. Terrain and rider weight will impact the distance you can travel even more. A heavier rider on hilly terrain will get fewer miles than a lighter rider on flatter routes.

Comfort
5/5
5

Thanks to its padded, motorcycle-style double saddle, the CityScrambler is going to be a comfortable ride. You’ll be sat in an upright, city bike position, and your arms won’t feel much strain while riding. The 4.25” fat tires and hydraulic suspension fork add even more comfort on your adventures.

Durability
4/5
4

This big framed e-bike has very few parts to go wrong. Keep the chain oiled, and it’ll serve you for thousands of miles. Check the brake pads every 500 or so miles, too. Juiced offers a one-year limited warranty on its frames and components, while component manufacturers offer their own warranties on parts like the battery and motor.

Style

At first look, you’re either going to love or hate this e-bike. We love the bold design that makes it stand out from the crowd, but we appreciate that you may think differently. With the optional off-road tires, this looks like a compact little mountain monster.
